DRUM SCANNING PROCESS
Drum scanning NYC provides the client drum scans to the maximum optical resolution to match the fullest potential of your film originals and make it possible to produce large-scale fine art prints without limitations. We are also experts scanning color negatives. Drum scanning NYC uses the best scanner around, Aztek Premier, matched with Aztek´s sophisticated software Digital Photo Lab to guarantee the best results possible. We aim to give you the best archival scan from your film original.
As photographers we know how demanding it can be to produce a good scan and to get the most out of your film original. We only scan 48-bit (16-bit / channel RGB) files, unless customer requires otherwise, say goodbye to frustrating and limiting 8bit scans. We understand that, even though we make sure you get as much data as possible from your original you might want to tweak the image one way or the other to match your vision better and we want to make sure you can do that without a compromised histogram.
We clean your film original with film cleaner, mount with Kami scanning fluid, analyze and match the film grain to the right aperture for scanning. Spotting is included. Large format, 4×5 and 8×10, dust clean up may cost extra due to the large surface area and inevitable dust build up during shooting. We save your scanned file into the standard Adobe RGB (1998) colorspace, as a lossless tiff file, or if required ProPhoto RGB colorspace. Your drum scans are delivered via dropbox service. If requested we offer option for clients to NOT to cut their film strips into individual frames for scanning (additional fees may apply).
